Make it Count again: We choose meaningful gifts!

If it has meaning, let it be substantial #Makeitcount again and again! We are so proud of what we all accomplished together over the past few holidays and thrilled with how we did it you embraced the Make it Count initiative. This photo is from last year's delivery of the Flame piggy bank to the representative of the Association in Messinia Eleni Bakolea.

With Eleni, we had a constructive discussion about the action of Flogas and the financial & emotional support it offers to children suffering from cancer and their families. We talked about the understaffing in hospitals today, Flame's effort to fill the state's gaps through funding for medical and nursing staff, and especially the vital role of volunteerism.

Describing the houses of Flogas, where families coming from the region are accommodated for as long as they have to stay in Athens for the treatment of their children, Eleni stated:

The houses of Flogas where the children are accommodated are houses full of joy! Nothing leads you to believe that these children are fighting cancer. The children play in the playground, volunteer kindergarten teachers come and keep them busy, while there is also a school inside the house so that they can attend their lessons and not miss the school year.

After this discussion, we committed to organizing something even bigger! To do this we followed the following recipe to the letter: We rolled up our sleeves and once again put in all our love plus an extra dose of creativity – we literally took the mountains to collect mistletoe, made our own eucalyptus and fir Christmas wreaths, dried orange slices, we decorated our tree with our own ginger cookies, added super surprises to them and mixed it up well with creative polaroid challenges!

And all for one simple reason – because at the end of the day, the happiest people aren't the ones who get more, but the ones who give more! Congratulations to our entire team who worked with passion to host this particular initiative, creating an environment of beautiful emotional stimuli.

Enough with the thrills though – who's curious to know what we've got in store this year?

What does the Make it Count initiative involve?

Christmas Tree Lucky Dip

First, let's start with our tree. Like last year, from December 12, our team will start distributing 100 gifts which were bought by Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Disease Flame. Each pretzel ornament on our tree has been made with lots of love and hides a number, which corresponds to the gift you win!

This gift can be from handmade children's note cards to stainless steel bottles and cotton bags!

What's different this year is that our tree is loaded with more ornaments than last year - so more presents. You heard right! Due to the great response the initiative had last year and because we don't want anyone to leave our venue empty-handed, we will give away 50 more gifts, which include free treatments or big discounts on the services offered at our place!

And it doesn't end here...! For the whole of December, with the purchase of one of the festive ones CHRISTMAS PAMPERING Gift Packs that we have prepared for you and your loved ones, 5% of the amount will be placed directly into the Flame support piggy bank! Make it count, didn't we say?

What is the goal of the Make it Count initiative?

Through this initiative we seek:

to stand by the side of the little heroes who fight cancer every day and to praise their power
to support the work of the Flame both materially and morally
to redefine the concept of gift from a possibly spontaneous purchase of a consumer good to a conscious decision. A gesture of love that gives value not only to the recipient of the gift but also to someone else who needs our love the most - even if we don't know them
to encourage other local businesses to take similar initiatives - because if we join forces, we can achieve much more!
